Vindhyagiri Project 17A

• The president of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, launched the Vindhyagiri, the sixth stealth frigate of project 17A, at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata on August 17, 2023.

Key Incidents

• The Vindhyagiri is named after the Vindhya Mountains range in Karnataka.
• It is the sixth ship of project 17A frigates.
• The project 17A frigates are an improved version of the project 17 shivalik class frigates, which are currently the backbone of the Indian Navy’s Fleet.
