National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in association with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) organized the ‘River-Cities Alliance (RCA) Global Seminar: Partnership for Building International River-Sensitive Cities’.

Objective

  • The RCA Global Seminar served as a forum for member city officials and international stakeholders to exchange ideas and knowledge on effective strategies for urban river management.
  • Previously, a meeting of RCA DHARA 2023 (Driving Holistic Action for Urban Rivers) was held in February 2023, featuring sessions on International best practices and examples for urban River Management.
River City Alliance

  • The River Cities Alliance (RCA) is a collaboration between the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
  • Started with 30 member cities in November 2021. the RCA has expanded to include 109 river cities in India and one international member city from Denmark.
