Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on March 17, 2023 that ‘PM MITRA mega textile parks’ will be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
- These parks are inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F vision, which aims to boost the Indian textile industry from farm to fashion to foreign markets.
- The PM MITRA scheme was announced in October 2021, and the parks are expected to be set up by 2026- 27, with a total outlay of Rs. 4,445 crore.
About PM MITRA Parks Scheme
- A park will be developed by a Special Purpose Vehicle which will be owned by the Central and State Government and in a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode.
