LVM3 M3/ OneWeb India-2 Mission

  • According to the ISRO, the LVM3 M3/ OneWeb India-2 Mission was accomplished successfully on March 26, 2023.
  • The vehicle took off with a total payload of 5,805 kg from Sriharikota.
  • The vehicle performed a sophisticated manoeuvre to orient in orthogonal directions and injected the satellites into precise orbits with defined time gaps to avoid collision of the satellites.
    • As per the contract signed between ISRO’s commercial arm NSIL and OneWeb, a total of 72 satellites are set to be launched in two phases.
    • The first phase, which included 36 satellites, was successfully launched on October 23, 2022, in the LVM3-M2/OneWeb India-1 mission
OneWeb Constellation

  • OneWeb Constellation operates in a LEO Polar Orbit.
  • Satellites are arranged in 12 rings (Orbital planes) with 49 satellites in each plane.
  • The orbital planes are inclined to be near polar(87.9 Deg.)
  • The orbital planes are 1200 km above the Earth. Each satellite completes a full trip around the Earth every 109 minutes.
