India gets its first water metro in Kochi
- On April 25, 2023, PM Narendra Modi flagged off the first phase of India’s first water metro in Kochi. This is an addition to the existing water transport system in India.
- As per the reports, this water transport service is called the Kochi Water Metro.
- The project is under Kochi Metro Rail Corporation Limited. These boats will act as feeder service, just like we have metro feeder bus services.
The Kochi Water Metro project has a total value of 819 crores.
