The Finance Ministry has recently granted ‘Navratna’ status to four public sector enterprises, SJVN, Solar Energy Corporation of India, NHPC and RailTel Corporation of India.
Three of the four new Navaratna companies in India (RailTel, SJVN, and NHPC) are publicly traded.
Navaratna companies can invest up to Rs 1,000 crore without prior government approval.
