Present Scenario –

On 12 March, 2023 the ceremony for 95th Academy awards was held at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California (USA).
An American television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel has hosted the show.
For 95 Oscar Awards ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ was the most nominated film, with 11 nods.
Directed by ‘Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, this film has won awards in 7 categories.
‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ an American comedy-drama film has awarded with ‘Best Picture’ Oscar award.
For the film Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert have won ‘Best Director’ award.
For the film the Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has won Oscar for ‘Actress in a Leading Role”.
She becomes first Asian to win an Oscar for ‘Best Actress’.
Brendan Fraser has won Oscar for ‘Actor in a Leading Role’ (for “The Whale’).
German epic anti war film ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ has won ‘Best International Feature Film’ award.

The Elephant Whisperers

The Elephant Whispers has won Best Documentary short film award.
It is directed by Karthiki Gonsalves and produced by Gunelt Monga.

Naatu Naatu (Film — RRR)

RRR (Directed by S.S. Rajamouli) has created history by becoming the first Indian feature film to win an Oscar.
‘Naatu Naatu’ soundtrack by M.M. Keeravani has awarded the Best Original Song award.
Composer M.M. Keeravani along with lyricist Chandrabose collected the award.
Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava are the singers of the soundtrack.
Note — Naatu Naatu’ had also won Best song award in 80th Golden Globe Awards, 2023.

Indian Glory at the Oscars

In 1983, Bhanu Athaiya had won Oscar under ‘Best Costume Design’ category for film ‘Gandhi’.
In 1992, Bengali filmmaker ‘Satyajit Ray’ was bestowed with an Honorary Academy Award.
In 2009 A.R. Rahman and Gulzar had won Oscar under original song category (Jai Ho) for the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
A.R. Rahman had also won Oscar award under original score category for this film.
Resul Pookutty had won award under ‘Sound Mixing” category for Slumdog Millionaire.
