NIMHANS-AHT Comprehensive Mental-Health Action Program

National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and NGO Ashraya Hastha Trust (AHT) on April 13, 2023 signed an MoU in Bengaluru.
The MoU is signed to test the feasibility of a model comprehensive rural mental health programme named “NAMAN” (NIMHANS-AHT Comprehensive Mental-Health Action Program for Rural Communities) in two taluks before rolling it out across the country.
- The two taluks that were selected for implementing NAMAN are Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand and Belur Taluk in Hassan district of Karnataka.
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) -Rishikesh will join hands with NIMHANS to implement the program in Uttarakhand.
- It will be implemented in four stages over a three-year period.

NAMAN Program

NAMAN intends to provide promotive, preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care to the entire population of the target taluks by utilizing the community’s existing human resources.
