Nagaland Officially Declared as Lumpy Skin Disease Positive State

Nagaland has been officially declared as a Lumpy Skin Disease Positive State. The declaration is made following the detection of the Lumpy Skin Disease in four districts of the State.

Lump Skin Diseases (LSD)

• The disease is caused by the capripos virus, also known as the “Neethling” virus, and has severe economic consequences, including increased mortality, reduced productivity, higher control costs, business loss, and decreased market value, which ultimately affects food security.
