GAJ UTSAV-2023
- On April 6, 2023, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Gaj Utsav-2023 at the Kaziranga National Park Assam.
- The event marked 30 years of Project Elephant.
- Project Elephant was started in 1992 with the aim of increasing the population of elephants and to secure their habitat.
- It is included in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES).
