• The Ministry of Culture is preparing mapping and documentation of all the villages under the ‘Mera Gaon, Meri Dharohar’ (MGMD) programme.
• The National Mission on Cultural Mapping is being run in coordination with the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture.
• A web portal on MGMD was also launched on July 27, 2023.

• So far, 519 air routes are being operated across the country under the regional level air connectivity scheme (RCS) ‘Ude Deshka Aam Nagrik‘ (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik-UDAN).
• Under the ‘Udaan’ scheme, 76 airports including 2 sea airports and 9 heliports are being operated.
• This scheme was launched in the year 2016.

• Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the two-day ULLAS Mela at National Bal Bhawan, Delhi.
• The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education is organizing this program.

• Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy laid the foundation stone of the country’s first Digital National Museum of Epigraphy at the Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad.
• It is being established by the Archaeological Survey of India.
• About one lakh ancient inscriptions of different languages and periods will be kept in it.

• India Energy Week 2024 is being organized to reduce carbon footprint and promote green energy sources.

6. In which city is the first BIMSTEC Aquatics Championship 2024 being organized – New Delhi

• BIMSTEC Aquatics Championships 2024 is being organized in New Delhi.
• Central Youth Program and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated this championship.
• BIMSTEC was established in the year 1997.
• This group includes 7 countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand).

• New maps reveal a hidden hydrothermal system under Lake Rotorua, at a dormant volcano’s heart in New Zealand.
• Hydrothermal systems, common near convergent plate boundaries and mid-ocean ridges, need fluids, heat, and permeability.
• Seawater percolates through oceanic crust, heating to 350-400°C, producing chemically modified hydrothermal fluid.
• Ejected to the seafloor, it forms chimney-like deposits, supporting deep-sea chemosynthetic communities.

• The GRAPES-3 experiment, situated in Ooty, India and operated by the TIFR, made a significant discovery in the cosmic-ray proton spectrum, revealing a new feature at 166 TeV.
• Equipped with air shower detectors and a large muon detector, GRAPES-3 aims to investigate the origin, acceleration, and propagation of cosmic rays, including the existence of the “Knee” in their energy spectrum.
• It also explores the production of highest-energy cosmic rays, astronomy of multi-TeV γ-rays, and the impact of the Sun on Earth.

• Exercise Vayu Shakti-24 will be held on February 17, 2024 at the Pokhran Air to Ground Range, near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
• The exercise will involve over 100 aircraft, including fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, mid-air refuellers, airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft, and unmanned systems.

• Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has presented the Uniform Civil Code in the Assembly.
• With this, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement UCC.
• The draft of the Uniform Civil Code has been prepared on the basis of the report of Justice Ranjana Desai Committee.
